Year 6 - 8 Social Science
Year 6, 7 and 8 Social Science courses cover a range of units in Business Studies, Economics, Geography, History, and Legal studies. Students develop an understanding of weather and climatic regions. They gain an appreciation for past civilizations and the legacies they have left behind. Introductory units in Legal studies and Economics provide students with an understanding of the rule of law and how courts make decisions, as well as an understanding of consumers and producers, supply and demand and international trade. Through a range of learning activities students learn key concepts and apply these in formative and summative assessments. Students’ assessments are marked against the four Humanities criteria – Knowledge and Understanding , Application of Skills, Global Connectivity and Research and Presentation. Field trips to Colo-i-Suva national park, Pacific Harbour Cultural Centre, the Court House and organized topical evenings further extend their learning experience.
